EGG FREEZING
Egg freezing by vitrification method is one of the most recent methods in reproductive medicine. Eggs frozen by this method retain their quality better. This process involves placing processed eggs in liquid nitrogen at 196 C.
Freezing eggs – using old technology – is quite difficult, because the slow freezing process causes ice crystals to form in the eggs. After thawing, these eggs were often damaged, and the vitrification process involves a rapid cooling process that prevents ice crystals from forming.
This technological breakthrough has greatly increased the possibility that frozen eggs can later be used to obtain embryos. With proper care, frozen eggs can be stored indefinitely.
When does egg freezing take place?
- If you have not yet decided to have a child, you can freeze healthy eggs and use them later and thus preserve the reproductive function;
- You have an oncological disease;
- You are fighting severe form of endometriosis;
- You are likely to have premature ovulation failure;
The pregnancy rate obtained using frozen eggs is quite high, which gives hope to all those patients who have to freeze eggs due to health conditions.
EMBRYO FREEZING (VITRIFICATION)
Embryo freezing – by vitrification method – is one of the revolutionary events in reproductive medicine.
In many cases, more than two embryos develop from the eggs obtained as a result of medical stimulation of the ovaries; Therefore, after their transfer, the remaining good quality embryos are frozen. Frozen embryos have been successfully used in reproductive medicine for many years.
SPERM FREEZING (CRYOPRESERVATION)
Sperm freezing is a process that allows individuals to preserve sperm for later use. This procedure can be especially useful for those who think they may have infertility problems in the future (due to medical treatment or other reasons).
The sperm freezing process involves collecting a sperm sample, which is then processed and frozen using a “cryopreservation” technique. By freezing sperm, its viability and fertility potential is preserved for a long time.
When an individual chooses to thaw sperm, it can be used for procedures such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) or intrauterine insemination (IUI).
